Purpose

This course develops the SEARCH skills, safety awareness and team procedures required to conduct police SEARCH operations in support of SECURITY and IEDD OPERATIONS.

This course is suitable for police, law enforcement, border security, protective security or authorised government personnel required to conduct SEARCH tasks in explosive threat environments.

Course Overview

SEARCH operations provide essential support to IEDD activity by helping to identify suspect areas, locate threat indicators, manage routes, protect scenes, support high assurance event security and safe task progression. The course focuses on systematic SEARCH procedures, team discipline, task planning, marking, reporting, safety controls and coordination with authorised IEDD personnel. It develops practical SEARCH capability without implying authority to conduct IEDD disposal actions.

How it is delivered

Delivery Format

Delivery may include pre-course learning, classroom instruction, practical demonstrations, inert training aids, search lanes, building or route search scenarios, vehicle search exercises, team drills and assessment.


Prerequisites

Entry Requirements

Participants should be physically able to conduct field-based SEARCH training and should meet organisational and national authority requirements. Previous police, law enforcement, security, military search or operational experience is desirable.


On completion

Expected Outcome

On completion, participants should be able to conduct structured SEARCH tasks in support of IEDD operations, within approved procedures and under appropriate command and supervision.
