Course Overview
Urban clearance presents complex operational challenges. Personnel may be required to work in damaged buildings, rubble, collapsed structures, enclosed spaces, access routes, defensive positions and other urban terrain where explosive ordnance hazards may be mixed with structural hazards, debris and restricted access. The course introduces the principles and practical methods required to conduct urban clearance safely and systematically.
It focuses on the integration of search, survey, manual techniques, BAC methods, IEDD / EOD support, use of UAS and Mechanical assets, safety controls, marking, reporting and task control within an HMA framework.

How it is delivered
Delivery Format
Delivery may include pre-course learning, classroom instruction, model or map-based planning, urban simulation areas, rubble and building search lanes, scenario-based exercises, practical clearance drills and supervised assessment.
Prerequisites
Entry Requirements
Participants should be physically able to conduct field-based training and should meet any client, organisational or national authority requirements. Entry requirements include holding an IMAS EOD 1 or equivalent qualification.
On completion
Expected Outcome
On completion, participants should understand the principles of urban clearance and be able to support clearance operations safely in structurally complex urban environments within approved procedures and capability boundaries.
