Purpose

This course develops the knowledge and procedural understanding required to support the safe planning, supervision and control of demolition range activity within approved HMA training or operational environments.

This course is suitable for qualified IMAS EOD Level 3 personnel, demolition supervisors, training staff, technical field managers and organisations responsible for conducting or supervising practical demolition activity.

Demolition range activity requires strict control, competent supervision and clear safety procedures. This course focuses on the responsibilities and practical controls required to supervise demolition ranges safely and in accordance with approved procedures. The course introduces range planning, danger areas, command and control, explosive accounting, safety briefings, sentry duties, medical support, communications, firing procedures, misfire actions, incident response and documentation.

How it is delivered

Prerequisites

Entry Requirements

Participants should normally be qualified and authorised EOD personnel, preferably IMAS EOD Level 3 or above, or personnel with recognised demolition supervisory responsibilities. Practical delivery requires approved range facilities, explosives authority, medical support, communications, safety documentation and qualified instructional staff.


On completion

Expected Outcome

On completion, participants should understand the responsibilities and control measures required to supervise safe demolition range activity within approved organisational and national authority procedures.
