This course develops the operational knowledge, supervisory competence and technical management understanding required to plan, supervise and oversee field EOD and clearance activities within humanitarian mine action programmes.

This course is suitable for experienced IMAS EOD Level 2 or equivalent qualified personnel, technical field managers, senior team leaders, operations staff and organisations developing supervisory EOD and clearance management capability.

• IMAS-aligned EOD Level 3 role and responsibilities.
• Technical field management principles.
• Task planning and operational supervision.
• EOD and clearance task risk management.
• Team leadership and resource coordination.
• QA/QC, monitoring and reporting.
• Explosives safety and demolition oversight.
• Incident management and emergency planning.
• Liaison with operations management and national authority structures.
• Documentation, records and handover requirements.

Delivery may include pre-course learning, classroom instruction, planning exercises, case studies, field supervision scenarios, reporting tasks, practical problem-solving exercises and assessment.

Participants should normally have prior EOD and HMA field experience, appropriate technical qualifications, supervisory potential and organisational authorisation to attend operational-level EOD management training.

On completion, participants should be able to support the planning, supervision and oversight of field EOD and clearance activities within approved HMA procedures, national authority requirements and organisational accreditation.

This course may be delivered as a stand-alone operational-level course, through blended learning where appropriate, or as part of a wider HMA leadership, technical field management or national capacity development programme.
